The Art of Striking Out

  • Wake up

  • Make coffee

  • Drink coffee

Cross it off, check it off, toss the Post-it; whatever brings you a sense of accomplishment counts. Striking out any item on a to-do list is a visual reminder of the effort it took and the satisfaction you now have.

To-do lists aren’t just about getting stuff done; they’re tiny points of accomplishments throughout the day that make you feel like you won. Our days are hectic, constant, and ever-changing. The to-do list offers peace of mind, fulfillment, and proof of all we had to do.

Some days I need to write down every little thing to cross it off and feel like I did something. On other days, I’m a bit more put together; the list is just the basics. If you made coffee, drank that coffee, and then made another cup, there’s nothing wrong with writing it down so you can check it off. Consider it a motivational bank for future tasks.
